When I Met My Best Cousin Melissa

When I met my cousin Melissa
When I first met my cousin Melissa I didn’t know what to think whether to like her or dislike her. I think she felt the same way because she looked at me like I was wearing a chicken suit. The reason why I had just met Melissa was because we had been living in Colorado and she’d been living in South Dakota. Later on that day Melissa and I started playing with each other, we also started realizing that we were becoming friends. She felt I was like a sister to her which kind of made sense to her because she didn’t have a sister only one brother named Travis. Melissa and I were hanging out like the best friends we are. People think of us as friends but I know were the best cousins ever even though we fight, two minutes later were the best cousins there to be. Now Melissa and I live together in a little town called Mitchell. Melissa and I had a promise that her and I will live together when we grow up.

My Feelings About Soccer

Soccer
The reason why I picked soccer to write about because I loved this activity since I was six and I enjoy it because its breath taking and you feel free when you got control of the ball and you feel you’re going to make a goal and no one could stop you. This year a week before school started I tried the soccer and I liked it but this time I had got hurt on both my heels on my feet. The reason why I got hurt because I had barrowed soccer shoes from my friend Sammy that had been on my team, and I ended up having blood blisters so I had to sit out at games for a while. At one of the games that we had was in Aberdeen and I had the ball going for the goal and I pushed this girl with my feet and she had to go home in crutches. After that game my teammates and coaches started calling me bulldog. The one thing about soccer I hated this year was having to get up at 5:00 o clock to condition then going back at 3:30 or 11:00, this continued for the first week of soccer. Let me tell you I was sore like getting a shot and it being bruised. The last game in Rapid City I could not make it. The reason I couldn’t make it was because I chose not to go, the reason being was that I felt that they weren’t putting me in the games as long as I thought. I was mad to because I was working hard in practice and doing my best to be the best.

First semester Potfolio- Piece Id Like to Revise

The piece that I would like to revise would have to be the poem I wrote for an assignment called My Childhood home I wrote this poem on October 13, 2009. The poem is about my childhood home that is located in Fort Collins Colorado. The genre as you can probably guess is a poem. My ideas came from Mrs. Moege because she gave the assignment to write a poem of your favorite location or somewhere you went that you liked. I would change the fragments because when I was talking about what the house looked like I would use you instead of I.

My Childhood Home
Colorado Home.
White, Tall, Colossal.
My house is as white as a cloud on a sunny day.
The smell is as if someone just painted the house.
If you enter this beautiful house
You will see a chandelier hanging high as the sky
When I look at the set of stairs
“Wow” pops in my mind.
The dining room is a party waiting to happen.
If you turn to your left
You will see two huge gold doors while entering the office.
If you go upstairs
You can hear the TV bursting loud as if a helicopter flew over
Games, toys, and movies scattered all over the floor
As if there were a tornado.
Exit the room,
Straight into the bathroom and open the door in front of you,
My bedroom. The walls with stars and pictures of a moon.
Go across like if you were staring up at the sky.
Following you is a little puppy that has fur as soft as wool.
Oscar
White, Brown
Shitzoo.
But if you head downstairs
You will see a big dog shedding like a brush
Dauphine
Black, White, Huge.
My home is my dreams come true.

First Semester Portfolio-Favorite Piece

My favorite piece that I had written in the first Semester would have to be my vacation to Colorado for thanks giving. The story is about how my family and I go to Colorado to celebrate thanksgiving with my mom’s side of the family. Before I tell you about the story before I moved to South Dakota I had been living in Colorado with my whole family in the city Fort Collins. At the beginning of the story it tells how I’m excited about going to Colorado and how much fun it is to be with your family and spend time with your family. The ending is about not wanting to go home when you’re already were you want to be. The reason being is you miss your family and sometimes you can only see them once or twice a year which is my case in this story. My ideas came from me traveling to Colorado during thanksgiving break. The reason why I chose this Piece for my favorite was because to me family is very important because of living in different states. The genre to this story would be called a journal entry but it is continuous.

I am not going to tell you the whole story but I am going to show you my favorite part because of how long it is.

Colorado: The Day I Was Exited
Today was the day” is what I kept telling myself. I was so excited about going to Colorado that there were butterfly’s in my stomach. Once my family and I were all packed up ready to go we were ready to head out. Before we got on the high way we stopped at Hardies’ to eat breakfast. I had Country potatoes and orange juice and it was delicious. A few hours passed we were still in the car. It is almost lunch time eleven o clock Colorado time twelve o clock South Dakota time. My mom had bought us some bread, cheese, and turkey to make sandwiches. We were finally at our last stop, so we stopped in front of a bowling alley to eat our sandwiches that had been provided for us to eat. I am sorry I didn’t mention this before but before we left we decided to take our Yorkshire terrier named Hannah.

First Semester Reflection

As a student I grew my reading ability to a higher stander and I also grew my ability to grow my vocabulary. Like the game we played when we had to stand on our chairs and spell the word when it came around. I also thought the charades game was a great learning activity and a great visualization for each vocabulary word. By the way I wasn’t very good at that game but I thought it was a fun and smart way to learn vocabulary words. I think we should play those games more when we do have vocabulary because it’s a lot of practice and you get use to using the word and definition.

What I learned about myself in the first semester was that I keep getting farther in reading and I am a pretty good writer with a few mistakes. I think one day I’ll be able to achieve on getting no mistakes when I write. I also noticed I’m kind of slow on reading mostly with big books. When I was reading Twilight I was so hooked on to the book I could not stop reading it, but I thought I had the ability to read two books at a time. I guess it just comes to show that reading to books is nearly impossible unless you planned out times to read each book.

What I think I need to do to make myself successful in the next semester is read one book at a time and read more pages. I think reading one book at a time will help me because when you are reading to books at a time you forget about what each book is about and what’s going on. I think I should read more pages so that I could reach the class room goal of 2500 pages of reading.

Overall, my goals for next semester is to read more pages for the reading log and class room goal, stay with one book at a time, and talk with a bigger vocabulary. These are my goals for the second semester of school. I wish to succeed.
